A Garden Affair – An Outdoor Bridal Shower Luncheon

Fortunately Pepper Moon has the opportunity to have clients with which they get to work multiple times. Such is the case with Sandy and Frank Mascia, of Greensboro. Since 2001 we have had the honor to cater in their home for a rehearsal dinner, two bridal showers, a holiday dinner, a baby shower and a graduation party. The Pepper Tree Inn, home to Pepper Moon Catering, was the venue for an important wedding anniversary. It has been an honor to work for the Mascias. After a home renovation Mrs. Mascia and her daughter-in-law Beth Mascia hosted a Bridal Luncheon for her niece.

The renovation included a complete rebirth of their patio and backyard. Created and executed by Kevin Greeson, a local landscaper, the new area was perfect for a sitdown meal featuring a feasting table. A feasting table consists of standard 8-foot folding tables placed together to create a large dining room-style table which can seat as many guests as one can fit tables. The beauty of feasting tables is that there is no bad table, all guests are seated together. Mrs. Mascia’s outdoor garden was ideal for this set up. To be proactive Meredith suggested café umbrellas to block out sun that might make guests uncomfortable.
Having had Pepper Moon cater a Bridal Shower in 2003 for a family friend, Mrs. Mascia and Beth selected the same menu served previously:
Fancy Greens with Strawberries, Bleu Cheese Crumbles and Toasted Almonds with Raspberry Vinaigrette
Pepper Moon’s Signature Chunky Chicken Walnut Salad
Bowtie Pasta Salad
Fresh Cut Fruit
Bakery-fresh Foccacia and Panella Bread Quarters with Butter
Irish Cream Cheesecake
Peach Tea and Iced Water

The menu was consistent with their desire to be elegant but simple, and appropriate to potentially hot weather. Dessert was the finale. Spring Garden Bakery and Coffeehouse, from which Pepper Moon purchases all their desserts, prepared their Irish Cream Cheesecake. Pepper Moon staff served the cheesecake on eleven-inch dinner plates lined with caramel cream sauce. The cheesecake was drizzled with chocolate sauce and accompanied by a chocolate cup filled with Irish Cream Syrup, to be either poured into coffee or over the dessert.

Pepper Moon staff offered chilled champagne to the guests, who then raised their glasses to toast the bride...
